What you need to know...
Learning
Environment
Live Learn Launch Academy is an online education school, teaching children in small, intimate classes designed to ensure that every child is heard and able to engage and participate. Classes are between 10-12 children and one teacher.
Student
Demographic
For the 2024/2025 school year we will have students between the ages of 12-16. Currently our students reside in British Columbia, California, and Arizona however, due to it's online nature, to take part, children can be located anywhere in the world (as long as they can participate during the assigned times). Additionally, we welcome both boys and girls and while we pride ourselves on being open to all beliefs and affiliations, we are Christian and Conservative leaning.
School Year
Students are in school Monday to Thursday from PST 9:30am to 12:30pm with a short break mid-class. Additionally, from 9:30am-11:30am on Fridays we will be doing a unique class that will stretch the students knowledge and experience. In the past we partnered with Vancouver Debate School to teach the art of debate for a full term. For our second term we ran our LLLA Speaker Series where the students reached out to those they admired to interview them for the class. We have not planned yet what will be in store for Fridays but we expect to be just as great!
Our school year follows a typical schedule with holidays falling in line with most education institutions. The 2024/2025 year will begin September 9th, 2024 and will end June 20th, 2025 with a three week holiday at Christmas and a two week holiday for Spring Break.
Tech & Uniform
Requirements
Students must have a dependable computer with a camera. Additionally, we teach through Google Classroom so a dedicated gmail account needs to be created.
For the 2024/2025 students will be required to attend school in a collared shirt. This is to help them set the tone for school and it also works well to signify to others in the household when school is in session.
Tuition
The tuition for the 2024/2025 school year is CAD$1200/month/student, paid monthly, bi-annually, or annually. This covers the core education however, additional funds may be required for optional classes and field trips that may be made available throughout the year. Additionally, it may be necessary to "fund" your child in both the entrepreneurial and investment programs that we offer. We do not expect this amount to exceed $200 each for the year. Finally, we will be encouraging students to engage in philanthropic projects where they may want to donate to the cause of their choosing. This would be optional.
Math
Due to the unique needs and varied learning levels of our students, math will not be offered by LLLA. We have recommendations for excellent online platforms that teach mathematics.
Engagement &
Participation
In order to get the most out of their learning, it is essential that students engage and participate throughout the year. This means that students will be required to always be on time, on camera, and focused on the class. Please keep this element in mind when determining whether LLLA is right for your child.
Legal
Requirments
Please review the homeschooling rules in your area to determine what steps may be required by your local government. In BC, students attending LLLA would be considered "Homeschooled" not in "Distributed Learning".
If your child is going into grade 10-12 you will need to partner with an accredited school to access credits. For more information about how this works, please reach out to us.
Applications
We are accepting applications to our school starting May 1st, 2024. We will send you an application and some questions for you and your child to fill out. We will schedule a call with Tanis Jorge, one of the founders, so parents can ask questions and then schedule a second call with our teacher, to be attended by both the parent/s and the child.
